South Shields will host Warrington Town in Saturday’s Northern Premier League Play-Off Final after both sides prevailed last night.
The Mariners went into the break against Buxton behind, courtesy of a Diego De Girolamo strike, however a quickfire double at the start of the second half from Jon Shaw and Carl Finnigan swung the tie back into South Shields’ favour.
Ashley Young leveled the scores with half an hour left to play but goals from Finnigan and a late effort from Joshua Gillies were enough to put the Mariners into Saturday’s crunch encounter.
They will face a Warrington side who beat badly out of form Nantwich Town, with a 4-1 victory.
Despite the one sided scoreline, for the first hour it looked as if the Dabbers were going to progress after Callum Saunders had put Nantwich into an early lead.
However, a late double from Benjamin Garrity, a Lloyd Allinson own goal and an injury time Tony Gray strike saw the Wire book their place in this weekend’s final.
Meanwhile, in Step 4, Pontefrect Collieries will play host to Brighouse Town in the NPL East Play-off Final after the duo beat Ossett United Sheffield FC respectively.
Finally, in the West, Radcliffe FC, who breezed passed Ramsbottom United last night, will play host to the winners of tonight’s game between Leek Town and Colne.
