Sam Lock has been appointed as Bracknell Town‘s new manager following the departure of Geoff Warner.
Warner, who had been part of the coaching set up at Bracknell for a number of years, took over managerial duties in November after former boss Carl Davies stepped back down from his role as player-manager.
The Robins were beaten in the Bostik League South Central play-offs on Monday by Cheshunt after finishing second in the division and the club announced the following day they had decided to make a “fresh start”.
Lock has spent the last ten years with National League side Maidenhead United as a coach and has now stepped into his first management role. He announced he would be leaving the Magpies last month.
He has signed a two-year contract with Bracknell as they bid to reach Step 3 and will be supported by Michael Butcher as his assistant manager, first team coach Aaron Steadman and performance analysis coach Matt Stannard.
On Warner’s departure, chairman Kayne Steinborn-Busse said: “Geoff will forever be part of Bracknell Town folklore after being part of the coaching team that brought home four trophies and promotion to Step 4, it has been an incredible three years however we feel now is the time for the club to make a fresh start and build for the next phase.”
