Gateshead look to bolster their promotion hopes

As they prepared to make an immediate return to the , have brought back a familiar face with the signing of Jordan Preston on a one-year deal.

The 23-year-old is well remembered among Heed fans having spent the entire 2017/18 season with the club, scoring five goals in 42 National League appearances as Gateshead ended up finishing in 17th position in ‘s highest tier.

Preston spent last season plying his trade with Halifax and netted three goals in the National League – two of which came in both league fixtures against the Heed.
Prior to joining Gateshead, the forward also appeared for , Ayr United as well as representing the youth sides at Blackburn Rovers.
“I’m looking forward to it, probably more so than the first time,” Preston told Gateshead’s official club website.
“Obviously I’m familiar with the surroundings, there’s still a few people here that I know and I know the pitch is nice and all about the area so I don’t think it’ll take much settling in.”
The Heed were demoted from the National League at this summer’s AGM after enduring a season fraught with off field issues .
However, following a takeover led by local businessmen, hopes are high among Heed supporters that better times could well be on the horizon.
