Boreham Wood have made another impressive signing this summer by bringing in defender Jordan Thompson on a season long loan deal from Coventry City.
The 20-year-old centre-back arrives at Meadow Park began his youth career at Queens Park Rangers before joining the Sky Blues in 2017 quickly signing a professional contract in March. Later that year he went on to make his first-team debut in a 2-1 EFL Trophy win over West Bromwich Albion U21’s.
Thompson has already had a brief taste of what the National League has to offer after having a short loan spell at Barrow where he featured nine times.
Last season he made eight appearances for Coventry, four of which coming in Sky Bet League One which shows that he is more than capable of competing at this level on a regular basis.
“I’m pleased to get the deal over the line” said the new Wood new signing. .
“As soon as I knew there was interest, I bit at the chance to come down here. I’m at the age now where I just want to play men’s football week in week out, I’ve had a little taste so I already know what to expect.”
Meanwhile, manager Luke Garrard added, “We are thankful to bring Jordon into the club.
“He’s athletic, competitive, handles the ball superbly, very powerful and adds to the group that we’ve already got.
“I remember his time at Barrow and he was impressive there, he’s settled in lovely already and I’m looking forward to seeing what he can bring to the squad moving forward.”
