Gateshead sign former Hartlepool midfielder Nicky Deverdics

have announced the signing of Nicky Deverdics on a one-year deal, subject to international clearance.
The midfielder spent a brief period with the Heed following his release from Newcastle United in 2006, scoring once in 22 appearances for the club.
Since then his career has seen him make appearances in the League for before joining in 2010.
Deverdics also made appearances in Iceland and the Faroe Islands before returning to the United Kingdom and going on to make over 100 appearances for , before most recently spending the past two seasons with .
“It’s good to be back home,” the 31-year-old told gateshead-fc.com.
“The club are still trying to do everything that they would be doing in the and that was a big draw.
“Mike was a big part of it [the move]. I had a really good conversation with him, I liked what he said and his vision going forward and I think he talked me into coming back up.
“I had a frustrating season last season, I can’t deny that, so for me my aim is to get as fit as I can as fast as I can.

After starting his career at hometown side Newcastle United, Deverdics enjoyed spells with Gateshead and before his big move to Scottish side Gretna.
He helped the club from Division Three up to the Scottish Premier League before he moved back down south, spending two years at Barnet.
Time at Icelandic club BI/Bolungravik and TB Tvoroyri of the Faroe Islands followed and Deverdics then returned to these shores with and then Dover in July 2014 following a successful trial.
The 29-year-old was instrumental in the Whites’ fifth-place finish, scoring 14 times and clocking up 18 assists for Chris Kinnear’s side, who eventually lost in the end of season play-offs.
