Dave Carter has quit as manager of Southern League Moneyfields after four years at the helm.
Carter, pictured, cited increasing work commitments on Thursday for standing down at Dover Road ahead of a trip to fellow Southern League Division One South strugglers Barnstaple Town on Saturday.
Carter told portsmouth.co.uk that Non-League football hasn’t seen the last of him following his decision to leave the Portsmouth-based club’s Moneyfields Sports Ground.
Carter said: “In recent weeks work demands and increased football pressures have taken its toll. I feel the time is right to step away.
“Moneyfields is a fantastic club and I wish them all the best for the future. There are a lot of good people at the club.
“Personally, I am going to take a little bit of much-needed time out. In my 14 years of management at Horndean and Moneyfields I have given it my all.
“Anyone who knows me knows that I wear my heart on my sleeve. I love Non-League football and will still be around.”
The newly-managerless Moneys, third from bottom and a point behind Barum, will face hosts bound to be lifted by the appointment of former Hednesford Town and Bideford boss Dean Edwards as their new manager on Wednesday.
Former Horndean boss Carter guided Moneyfields into the Southern League from the Wessex League for the first time in their history as runners-up in 2016.
Last season, Carter’s Moneys made the play-offs after narrowly missing out on a berth in their first season following promotion.
