Former Leiston boss Stuart Boardley is back in the game as Felixstowe & Walton United’s new manager less than a month after leaving Leiston.
The Seasiders named Boardley on Saturday night on social media following their Isthmian League North reverse at Hullbridge Sports before releasing a statement on Sunday morning on their website confirming his appointment.
The former Seasiders star took charge at Dellwood Avenue 48 hours after the departure of former boss Ian Watson and assistant Danny Bloomfield and almost a month after his own exit from Southern Central Premier Division Leiston.
Boardley, pictured, will be assisted by another former Seasider, Andy Crump, with the duo taking charge for the first time on Tuesday night at Bury Town in the Suffolk Premier Cup.
Former Torquay United midfielder Boardley played a key role on the pitch in the Seasiders’ rise out of Step 5 in recent seasons before hanging up his playing boots when he replaced Glen Driver at Leiston’s Victory Road last year.
On Sunday he told fans he was looking forward to a fresh challenge in the Isthmian League with Felixstowe & Walton’s fourth from bottom side.
“Both myself and Andy are delighted to be back at the club that gave us so many happy times,” said Boardley.
“It’s a huge club with massive potential to progress even further than it has in the last few years.
“We are really looking forward to carrying on the fantastic work done by the previous managers over the last few seasons and feel privileged to have been trusted with this opportunity.”
