CAMBRIDGE UNITED have cancelled the contracts of Michael Wylde and Adriano Moke.
Both players have spent time on loan at other clubs over recent weeks and have now mutually agreed their exits from the Abbey.
Former Tamworth defender Wylde arrived at the Abbey in June 2011 and made over 20 appearances in the Conference Premier last season.
However, he has found opportunities far harder to come by in 2012/13 and was subsequently loaned to AFC Telford United in December.
The ex-Cheltenham trainee didn’t fare much better at the New Bucks Head, featuring just twice, and he has now had him contract terminated.
Jez George commented: “Michael has been frustrated by his lack of minutes at AFC Telford and the loan did not really have the desired effect in terms of him gaining match fitness.
“I have great respect for Michael and hold him in the highest regard. He has been extremely unfortunate with injuries that have caused him to require three operations in the last 12 months.
“Understandably, Michael has struggled to get back to his best and as we’ve stated previously, he can only regain his match fitness by playing regularly and that opportunity does not exist currently at Cambridge United.
“With just six months of his contract remaining, this is the best option so that Michael has time to find another club now rather than in the summer.
“I would like to thank Michael on behalf of all the staff, players and supporters for his commitment and endeavours over the last 18 months as a player and club captain.”
Winger Moke, 22, joined the U’s from York City last summer but made just two starts before being sent to Tamworth in late October.
He was not set to feature in United’s plans for the second half of the season and has therefore been released to find himself a new club.
Speaking about his departure, U’s director of football Jez George said: “Having met with Adriano yesterday and talked through the various options, we agreed amicably to part company with immediate effect so that he could look for a club closer to home as a free agent.
“Adriano is a talented player that we hope can fulfil his potential somewhere in the future. He leaves with our best wishes and thanks for handling this situation in the right manner.”
