SKELMERSDALE UNITED won their first home game since November.
The game started brightly as both goalkeepers were called into early action. After a minute Frickley’s Seb Malkowski saved point blank from Nathan Randell, then at the other end Joe Hilton tipped a scorching Jake Picton shot over the crossbar.
It was a close affair, with both defences on top until the 44th minute when Skem’s Steve Gillespie was upended just inside the 18 yard box. A penalty was given which Frickley hotly disputed. Steve Irwin stepped up to score.
