THIRD BUT JON’S GONE

JON MCDONALD has quit North Shields despite leading them to third place in the Northern League.
He has been immediately replaced by long-serving clubman Brian Smith, who made 63 appearances for the club as a player before becoming part of the management team.
Mcdonald said: “The group have been able to demonstrate progression, coming close to winning the league and amassing 101 points on the way.
“I am pleased that I’ve been able to help the club achieve some stability.”
