MANSFIELD TOWN forward Jake Speight is unlikely to play again this season after tearing cartilage in his knee.
The club are uncertain of when the 27-year-old picked up the injury but he will now need surgery and faces at least ten weeks on the sidelines.
Stags boss Paul Cox says losing the striker, who has bagged eight goals this term, is a big blow for his promotion-chasing squad.
“It looks as though Jake is out for the rest of the season, which is a major blow for us,” he told the club’s website.
“We feel for the lad because it’s been a bit of a stop-start season for him, but we’ve got to get on with things.”
