A STOPPAGE-TIME winner by River Allen got City off to a great start and ended Welling’s hopes after they had got back to 2-2 after being 2-0 down at the interval.
With the game into the second minute of added time, it looked to be heading for a repeat of City’s opener last year, when they drew 2-2 against Chelmsford after being 2-0 up.
Midfielder Allen had other ideas, even if his winning goal had an element of fortune when his cross-shot from the left found the top corner of Chris Lewington’s net.
