BASFORD United started their season with a hardfought win over neighbours Belper Town thanks to Lewis Carr.
It looked as if Belper would take the lead as they won a penalty just before half-time after Kieran Fenton handled.
Alex Steadman took the penalty but Saul Deeney’s legs denied the forward from taking the lead.
The visitors went ahead through Carr, a well worked corner found the Basford skipper who headed home well, breaking through a Belper defence that had handled some heavy second half pressure well. The controversy of the game came...
