ALDERSHOT Town let the train take the strain for their long haul to Tyneside and it was Gateshead who hit the buffers for the first time at home.
It was a smash-and-grab raid by the Shots and it took a goalkeeping error late in the game to hand Gary Waddock’s men all three points and, with it, go top of the table.
Heed keeper Dan Hanford made a hash of punching James Rowe’s 83rdminute left-side corner and on loan Frenchman Fabien Robert was the beneficiary, hammering the ball into the bottom corner to give Aldershot their first-ever win at Gateshead.
