■ BAMBER Bridge took the battle of the high-flyers as Ramsbottom United lost by the odd goal.
The first half was an evenly matched affair with home keeper Danny Taberner being called into action more often than his opposite number as the game was goalless at the interval.
Ramsbottom had a goal contentiously disallowed for offside midway through the second period after what was perhaps the home side’s best attacking moment of the contest against a well organised visiting team.
