■THE home side prevailed in their first ever competitive fixture against Faversham after a confident first-half performance.
Waltham started impressively and Shad Ngandu scored the opener within 20 minutes at Capershotts to settle any early nerves.
And it was Abbey striker Christian Assombalonga who netted to double the lead just before half-time.
Substitute Luke Griffiths made a vital impact, scoring with 25 minutes left to provide a very tight finish to the entralling contest.
