BLYTH rang the changes for their clash against Evo-Stik Premier strugglers Stalybridge Celtic – and only just got over the line.
It took late goals from Sean Reid and defender Ian Watson to spare Spartans’ blushes after Connor Hughes had given Celtic a 69th-minute lead. Stalybridge gave a good account of themselves in the first half at Croft Park, Hughes clipping a post ten minutes from the break. Both sides also had penalty appeals turned down, Robbie Dale for Blyth and Liam Dickinson for Celtic.
