IN a game of few chances, Gethyn Hill’s goal a minute into the second half settled the tie.
For most of the first half Weston played pretty passing football but rarely threatened to hurt Welling. Two cross-shots, from Danny Greenslade and Jake Lee, were the only efforts that debutant goalkeeper Ryan Sandford had to think about.
However, Welling came closest to scoring when, just before the break, Jack Jebb found Bradley Goldberg and his drive went wide off the base of the post.
