A PHENOMENAL effort by a group of volunteers to clear snow off of the pitch saw this game go ahead – but they may have wished they hadn’t bothered after seeing the visitors take an early lead and go on to win.
Stamford went ahead on four minutes after Ben George capitalised on a slip in the Chasetown defence to score.
They should have doubled their lead only for Liam Adams to shoot straight at Curtis Pond when unmarked.
The home side nearly levelled when midfielder Will Whieldon saw his 25-yard free-kick pushed wide by Daniel Haystead.
