■ASHFORD survived a late Moneyfields rally as they edged home thank to efforts from James Cottee and Alex Fisher.
Mitchell Gough nearly gave the hosts the lead in the first half, but his header struck the crossbar.
The home side were in front in scrappy fashion on the hour mark, James Cottee claiming credit after a fierce goalmouth scramble.
And Fisher’s penalty six minutes later looked to have Ashford cruising home with relative ease.
