SPITFIRES MOURN BROOKS’ PASSING

By Chris Lewis EASTLEIGH have been paying tribute to founder and president Derik Brooks, who has passed away aged 94.
The Spitfires’ stalwart was known as ‘Mr Eastleigh’ by all at the club where he has been involved for 72 years.
Brooks founded the club Swaythling Athletic in 1946 and played seven times before becoming club secretary, treasurer and general secretary and, later, president.
When Eastleigh won the Conference South in 2014, Brooks lifted the championship trophy as they completed their rise from Southampton Common to the top tier of Non-League football.
