KIERAN WELLS scored the only goal of the game, as fifth-placed Stamford gave their play-off hopes a massive boost with a 1-0 victory over fellow chasers Leek Town.
Played in a strong wind, the match was hardly a thing of beauty, with just one shot on target for each side but Stamford made theirs count midway through the first half.
Jake Duffy took a corner short to Elliott Pulman, whose cross fell at the feet of Wells, and he made no mistake by firing into the roof of the net.
