HAVING spent weeks glancing over their shoulders, Alfreton Town are now looking up.
A first win in six games moved Chris Moyes’ team up to 16th, belying the form book to end Southport’s winning run.
Thomas Allan put the visitors on their way inside two minutes, heading in a deep free-kick from Brendon Daniels, who turned scorer shortly before the interval with a shot from 25 yards after being slipped in by Craig Westcarr.
Southport had seen plenty of the ball but their play lacked incision against rugged, welldrilled opposition.
