■THE REAL heroes of this day were the small group of supporters who battled the elements all morning, clearing gallons of water off the pitch. With both teams and the referee all eager to get the game on, it went ahead in spite of a few puddles.
After greeting the runaway champions with a guard of honour, Ives showed them less respect on the pitch as they started well taking the game to their illustrious opponents.
Peter Clark was buzzing everywhere and went close with a dangerous cross from the right that took a combined effort from James Bowen and keeper Martin Horsel...
