ALVECHURCH made their return to Step Three football after more than a quarter of a century and registered a well-earned first point and clean sheet in a gritty stalemate.
An even first half saw one good chance for each side late on.
Royston’s Aaron Lloyd planted a Tom Turton cross against the bar on 40 minutes then James Potton forced a smart one-on-one save from the hosts’ Charlie Price in stoppage time to serve up a frantic end to the half.
The second half continued in similar vein, with chances at a premium and defences on top.
