A threadbare Oxford City outfit battled to a hard-earned victory over St Albans City.
The hosts, plagued by injuries and suspensions, were forced to play reserve ‘keeper Alex Grantham as a makeshift striker for the final ten minutes as they defended their slender lead.
Matt Paterson came close to opening the scoring in the ninth minute, his lob from outside the area narrowly beating the crossbar.
