EXPERIENCED striker Jason Walker marked his league debut for Workington with the winning goal.
A mistake on 51 minutes by Stafford skipper Luke Jones allowed Walker, 34, to go through on goal and he beat keeper Adam Whitehouse with a cool finish.
Workington just about deserved their victory, creating more chances than the visitors and going close on three occasions.
Conor Tinnion was given a clear shooting chance on his favoured left foot, but picked a spot just over the bar.
