HAVING just watched Chesterfield lose at home to Barnet in the National League last Saturday, I simply had to comment on a quite dreadful standard of officiating throughout the game at Proact Stadium.
This is no sour grapes as Barnet ruined the afternoon of former manager Martin Allen in the opposite dugout, but referee David Rock must have left his cards at home as several Barnet fouls, of which two warranted a penalty kick, went unpunished.
The standard of refereeing seems to be dropping dramatically each season at this level and needs urgently addressing.
