MELKSHAM saw their chances of victory vanish after Warren Maidment’s late sending off saw the game swing towards to the visitors.
Both sides found it difficult to create any clear cut opportunities and at the interval, it was goalless.
The visitors took the lead when Kerry Morgan finished at the back post but on 76 minutes, the tide turned when Maidment picked up a second yellow card.
Merthyr went 2-0 up on 77 minutes when Tom Meechan volleyed home a Corey Jenkins cross, before Owain Jones added a third.
