JOE Taylor’s secondhalf header consigned ten-man Worthing to their first defeat of the season.
And the hosts added to their own misery by missing a second-half penalty.
The Rebels’ Callum Kealy had an early shot blocked and a header tipped over the bar, while Sam Rents curled a free-kick just wide from the edge of the box.
Five minutes before half-time Margate sub Sidney Sollis fired straight at Worthing keeper Lucas Covolan and Gate keeper Henry Newcombe palmed away Rents’ fierce effort.
