YORK City racked up their first back-to-back wins since mid-January and ended Guiseley’s nine-game unbeaten run in the process.
Sean Newton’s brace put the game to bed after home strikers Macaulay Langstaff and Jordan Burrow cancelled out an early Kingsley James penalty for the visitors, who still managed a late consolation through sub Scott Smith.
The Lions had started the afternoon brightly with Paul Clayton volleying over with just 12 seconds on the clock before York were penalised for handball on four minutes.
