MERSTHAM came out on top to complete a seasonal double in an entertaining game.
Despite the atrocious conditions, both teams looked to play passing football but defences often looked on top throughout.
Tom Kavanagh had probably Merstham’s best efforts in the first half, being denied twice in a minute by home keeper Berkley Laurencin and then defender Lewis Hobbs.
The Scholars’ best firsthalf chance fell to Darnell Wynter, whose run down the right beat the Merstham defence, but his shot came back off the bar.
