WHITBY picked up their first home league win and clean sheet since October 20 as they put a dent in Gainsborough’s promotion hopes.
A frenetic opening saw Trinity’s Simon Russell force a strong stop from Adam McHugh before Whitby bossed it for the rest of the half. Matty Tymon broke clear at the other end but Nathan Stainfield nipped the ball off the ex-Workington forward’s toe before he could pull the trigger.
