BRENDAN KIERNAN’S penalty was sufficient to see Welling to victory.
Chances were few and far between in the first period. Lloyd Dawes headed wide for Eastbourne before Gavin McCallum and Bradley Goldberg were off target for Welling.
The one major talking point of the half was when Kiernan went down in the area.
Welling screamed for a penalty but the referee decided otherwise and cautioned Kiernan for simulation. Harry Ransom made a great block from Goldberg shortly before Danny McNamara fired over just before half-time.
