WORKINGTON scored an important win as they strive to get clear of the relegation zone.
They were made to battle for the three points though as Bamber Bridge ran them close.
It was a deserved victory, as they had more chances and more pressure than the visitors.
They went in front on 12 minutes when Sam Joel controlled a header from Jason Walker to turn smartly and score.
He beat keeper Lloyd Rigby with a low shot into the bottom corner.
