WORKINGTON slumped to their eighth successive home defeat which virtually condemned them to relegation.
It is the worst sequence of home results since 1951/52 when they first joined the Football League. They had shown up well in the first half, and were probably the better side until falling behind on 40 minutes, after which their heads seemed to drop.
Dan Wordsworth was adjudged to have pushed Anthony Wilson in the box, half a minute after a similar penalty shout had been turned down.
