NEEDING three points and a clear three goal victory to overtake Gainsborough into the final play-off position, Buxton got the win but not by the prefered margin.
Already relegated Workington with an away record sporting five wins in their last nine fixtures, were far from being the poorest visiting side this season, particularly as the Cumbrians battled back from conceding a brace of early goals.
In the fifth minute Diego DeGirolamo’s menacing run and deflected shot made it 1-0 and Liam Hardy provided a composed finish for 2-0 a minute later.
