GOSPORT improved their hopes of avoiding the drop with this ultimately emphatic win.
A lacklustre first half was punctuated by just a single goal, scored by former Staines player George Barker when he was found in space by Ryan Pennery as Gosport broke up an attack and darted upfield.
At the interval, Staines were still hopeful of claiming a result, or at least of stopping the recent avalanche of goals.
