DAVID Jones has been named as manager of North West Counties One North outfit Atherton Laburnum Rovers for next season.
Jones, who began his playing career at the Manchester United academy, played for Stockport County, Tranmere and Chester City before hanging up his boots at Kettering Town in 1996.
He returned to Chester as youth team coach and in 1999 took over Castleton Gabriels in the North West Counties League, leading them to their highest finish in 52 years.
In 2007, he coached the US Armed Forces Women’s team and later the US Army Men’s team.
