A PRE-SEASON questionnaire, 24 hours in Dublin and a culture of togetherness have propelled Atherton Collieries to the Evo-Stik Premier – just five years after playing at Step 6.
Manager Michael Clegg describes it as a fairytale as the north-west club secured their third promotion in a whirlwind period by winning the Evo-Stik West on Easter Monday.
The celebrations were so good, the last men standing even made it back to the gaffer’s house to continue the party until the early hours.
