GATE OPENS

MARGATE boss Jay Saunders has beaten off the challenge of several other rivals to sign defender Daniel Johnson.
The 23-year-old England C international spent last season in the National League South with Dartford and has previously represented Bromley and Herne Bay.
Hailing his reunion with boss Saunders, Johnson said: “I left Dartford and was approached by Jay and I was keen to come as I’ve known Jay for a long time.
“He’s coached me previously and I know he is a good manager so I am really pleased to join Margate.”
