CONTINUED off-field difficulties conspired to force Basingstoke to begin life in Step 4 20 miles away in Winchester, with Barnstaple Town the first visitors to their temporary home.
Fans were treated to plenty of goals as Barnstaple claimed the points.
An excellent individual effort from Reece Rusher and Brian Levien sent the sides in level at the break before Liam Short and Theo Simpson put the visitors 3-1 up by the hour.
Ben Wright quickly pulled one back for ‘Stoke but an own goal restored Barnstaple’s two-goal advantage.
