EAST Thurrock United are mourning the death of their popular owner Ben Bennett, who passed peacefully on Wednesday.
Former player Ben stepped in to save the Rocks from likely extinction in 2002, clearing debts of around £300,000.
Since then, he has overseen the most successful period in the club’s history while seldom missing a game either home or away.
He will also be remembered for his working relationship with former manager Lee Patterson and current long-serving boss John Coventry as the Essex club made the leap from Step 4 to the National League South.
