WELLING earned a much-needed win despite being reduced to 10 men in the first half at Hemel Hempstead.
They went in front after just 11 minutes when Dipo Akinyemi cut inside the box before smashing the ball past Danny Boness, after Nathan Green had run unchallenged from the half-way line to set up the chance.
United had their keeper Daniel Wilkes to thank for them hanging onto the lead after he made a couple of crucial saves.
