WHITBY returned to winning ways after a run of three successive defeats, but they were made to work hard for the points.
The Blues broke the deadlock on five minutes as midfielder Adam Gell smashed in on his 200th appearance. Matty Tymon then slammed against a post and forced a strong of saves from Paddy Wharton as Whitby threatened to run riot. Their Lancastrian visitors, meeting Town for the first ever time, had three quickfire chances. Dylan Glass poked wide after successive blocks.
