PLAY-OFF chasing Chester made heavy weather of defeating lowly Blyth, who played for the majority of the second half with ten men, after Shane Blaney had been shown a straight red card following an ill-advised and high challenge on George Glendon.
The Blues were in control of a turgid game for the majority of the proceedings, but after conceding a scrappy goal late on, they gave themselves an anxious spell in the final few minutes. The home side started the brighter, with Brad Jackson going narrowly wide on two occasions with 20-yard efforts.
