AFTER being released by Southend as a teenager, Michael Kightly wasn’t sure whether a career in professional football was right for him.
He’d already left his first club, Tottenham Hotspur, because the strict routine and pressure to perform had sapped his enthusiasm, and this latest setback gave him pause for thought.
