THE Toolstation Northern Counties East League are standing by their decision to delay the start of their new season by at least a fortnight.
Like other Step 5 leagues, it had long been hoped that the new campaign could start on September 5, and this week it was announced that crowds of up to 150 would be allowed to attend games hosted by Toolstation NCEL clubs from yesterday, with the figure increased to 300 from August 31.
But the management made the decision to begin the season on September 19 at the earliest followed a conference call with other leagues and the FA on Monday evening.
