GEORGE SYKES headed home a late winner for Aveley to settle a drab affair at Mayesbrook Park.
Sykes headed in 10 minutes from time as one of the title favourites maintained their 100 per cent start to the season, while Romford were left goalless after two games.
A cagey opening saw Boro’s Matthew Cafer make an early save, before fellow defender Dave Winfield was booked for pulling back an opponent.
