HITCHIN came from behind to see of Herne Bay. The visitors began confidently and took a deserved lead with good work from Dan Johnson whose calm assistance enabled Zak Ansah to convert at the near post. The best attempt for the hosts fell to Lawrie Marsh, who shot wide.
Hitchin’s equaliser came from an own goal, the ball deflected in from an Alex Marsh cross by Herne Bay skipper Laurence Harvey after 35 minutes.
